Suspect Arrested After Smash & Grab Robbery at Macy's

On November 30, 2023, at 7:54 PM, The Simi Valley Police Department received several 911 calls from Macy's, which is located at 1475 Simi Town Center Way, in reference to a smash and grab robbery in progress. The reporting parties advised SVPD Dispatch that a male subject was smashing display cases with a hammer and removing property.
While Officers were still responding to the scene, the suspect fled the location in a white passenger vehicle. The vehicle description was provided to additional Officers who located the vehicle a short time later travelling eastbound on the 118 freeway. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop but the vehicle failed to stop, resulting in a short vehicle pursuit. The suspect exited the freeway and continued on surface streets where he ultimately abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into a residential area. Officers established a perimeter and with the assistance of LAPD Air Support and the Simi Valley Police Department K9 unit, ultimately located and arrested Lande Butler, a 44 year old resident of Palmdale, CA, without incident.
Officers recovered approximately $6,000 in stolen merchandise, which was later returned to Macy's. Butler was booked at Ventura County Jail for Robbery and Evading a Peace Officer.
