A petition was filed on December 1, 2023 requesting a Primary for the 2024 Spring Election rather than a Village Caucus. There is a 10-day period to challenge signatures of the petition, followed by a 5-day period to respond to any challenges. Once these statutory deadlines have passed, the Village will announce if there will be a primary election in lieu of a caucus for the Village this spring.
If the petition is deemed to meet the statutory requirements, No caucus will be held in January 2024. All candidates for the offices of Municipal Judge and Village Trustee would need to circulate nomination papers and receive between 20-100 valid signatures. Papers must be filed with the Village Clerk by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
