Newark Police Department Crime Blotter Nov 27 - Dec 3, 2023
The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 2023
3:17 AM: Officer Herrera and Officer Swadener investigated an auto burglary in progress on Inverness Drive. A suspect vehicle was located in the area but fled from officers who did not pursue it. Officers recovered a stolen vehicle and located other vehicles that were burglarized and tampered with.
3:25 PM: Officer Jackman investigated an auto burglary via window smash on the 36000 block of Bettencourt Street. The loss was unknown. The incident occurred sometime during the day and no suspect information was provided.
2:58 PM: Officer Medina investigated a battery between husband and wife that occurred the night prior. The suspect, A 48-year-old female out of Newark, was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
8:11 PM: Officer Swadener investigated a theft from a business on Newpark Mall Road where the suspects fled on foot. Officers located two female adult suspects nearby and were positively identified by the witness. They were both arrested and issued citations.
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 28, 2023
5:08 AM: Officer Soto investigated an auto burglary on Lido Boulevard.
6:53 AM: Officers investigated an auto burglary on Lido Boulevard. Loss was batteries, clothes and work shoes. Occurred between 6:30 AM – 6:53 AM.
8:51 AM: Officers investigated an auto burglary on Newark Boulevard that occurred sometime overnight. The loss was tools.
10:31 AM: Officers investigated a report of a stolen vehicle from the 35000 block of Lido Boulevard.
12:06 PM: Officers investigated a report of a catalytic converter theft from Olive Street.
1:08 PM: Officers investigated an auto burglary on Woodruff Drive. The loss was tools.
1:52 PM: Officers responded to the 37600 block of Mistflower Drive for a report of a theft from an unlocked vehicle.
1:41 PM: Officers investigated a vandalism on Cedar Boulevard. The victim’s vehicle window was shattered.
4:35 PM: Officers investigated a package theft on Darner Drive.
3:57 PM: Officers investigated a theft from a locked locker from a business on Newpark Mall Road. The loss was an Airpod case and wallet.
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 29, 2023
10:05 AM: Officers responded to Cedar Boulevard for a report of a female slumped over the steering wheel in her vehicle. Officers contacted the 60-year-old female out of Fremont and determined she was in possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal narcotics and was too intoxicated to care for herself. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2023
8:47 AM: A resident surrendered firearms and ammunition pursuant to a court order. Documented by Officer Losier.
8:58 AM: Officer Piquette investigated a report of a cold battery on Cedar Boulevard. The victim reported that a female threw a coffee at her. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.
10:01 AM: Officer Pacheco investigated the theft of a catalytic converter from a vehicle.
9:55 AM: Officer Losier investigated an overnight auto burglary on Newark Boulevard. The loss was tools and clothing.
10:48 AM: Officer Pacheco investigated the theft of a vehicle from Bettencourt Street.
11:22 AM: Officer Piquette investigated the theft of a vehicle from the 6200 block of Madelaine Drive.
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 1, 2023
9:40 AM: Officers investigated a package theft from a residence on Seawind Way.
9:47 AM: An alert citizen called in a green Kia with a broken window that had been parked in the area for two days. Officers located the vehicle and confirmed it was stolen from a neighboring city. The vehicle was towed.
12:43 PM: Officers investigated a theft of a bicycle from in front of a business on Thornton Avenue.
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2023
1:54 PM: Officer Jackman located a stolen vehicle on Wintergreen Drive.
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2023
12:03 AM: Officer Swadener contacted a 37-year-old male out of Fremont and arrested him for being in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
2:25 AM: Officer Herrera stopped a 26 year-old male Newark resident on Graham Avenue and arrested him for possession of a meth pipe.
6:18 AM: Officer Medina was dispatched to a male subject laying near the railroad tracks on Jarvis Avenue. A 38-year-old male out of Newark was located hiding behind a tree. It was determined that he was too intoxicated to care for himself. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
12:34 PM: Officers contacted a 42-year-old male out of Newark on Wells Avenue after he was recognized to match the description of a subject caught on security cameras starting fires in an industrial area. Officer Medina located a large, fixed bladed knife concealed in his sock under his pants. The male was placed und arrest for possessing the concealed dirk/dagger and ultimately confessed to starting the fires. He was issued a citation and released from the scene.
