Sheriff Richard J. Behnke, reports that on 12/07/2023 at approximately 0008 hours his office was called to investigate a personal injury crash near the intersection of Barron Lake Road and White Street, in Howard Township, Cass County Michigan.  

Investigation shows that 30-year-old, Niles resident, Casey Schramm was traveling northbound on Barron Lake Road when he left the roadway and struck a Telephone Pole. Mr. Schramm then continued off the roadway, struck a tree causing his vehicle to come to a rest alongside the roadway. Mr. Schramm was transported to Corewell Hospital in Niles for minor injuries sustained in the crash.  

Seatbelts were worn and alcohol does appear to be a factor in the crash.  Assisting in this crash was SMACAS Ambulance and Howard Township Fire Department
