Wilmington Police have arrested a man on drug charges following an investigation.
Beginning in November, members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division have been conducting an investigation into illegal drug sales in the 800 block of West 4th Street. On December 6, at approximately 10:09 a.m., police executed a search warrant in that block and took 32-year-old Belal Mohammad Ahmed into custody without incident. Police recovered 37.14 lbs. of marijuana, $14,495, and drug paraphernalia.
Belal Mohammad Ahmed has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 3 Quantity
- Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 3 Quantity
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Operating a Business without a License
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $60,200 cash-only bail.
