Advisory

Update: Boil Advisory Ends for Southwest Waukee, Daybreak Area

UPDATE 6:45 a.m. 12/9/2023- Boil Advisory Has Ended
The boil advisory in SW Waukee was lifted this morning after the 2nd water sample passed testing. You can use water from the tap as normal.

Update 4:10 p.m. 12/8/23
The first sample (of two) passed testing, and we hope to have results of the second test tomorrow. If the second sample also passes testing, the boil advisory will end.

12/7/2023
Water is back on for Waukee water customers impacted by the water main break earlier today. Boil Advisory remains until water samples pass two rounds of testing. As a precaution, continue to use boiled water or bottled water for consumption or food preparation.

There may be air in your water piping and the water may be discolored. It is recommended to run COLD water from the first faucet that does not have an aerator screen, such as a bathtub or hose bib. Open the faucet slowly to allow the air to escape. Once the water is flowing, allow the faucet to run until it is clear. The water may be cloudy at first due to air in the water or particles that dislodged as the pipes filled with water. This should clear fairly quickly. If water is cloudy or colored throughout the house and it does not clear after allowing the COLD water to run for several minutes, use an alternative source such as bottled water.

Update 1:30 PM 12/7/2023 - Correction: a Boil Advisory is in effect, not a Boil Order.

Affected Area: Waukee water customers west of Ute Avenue between Westown Parkway and Interstate Parkway and the east side of Ute Avenue between Westown and I-80. Homes on Sugar Creek Lane and to the east are not impacted.

BOIL ADVISORY: This is a precautionary measure. There is no reason to believe water quality has been compromised, but in these situations, as a precaution, customers are encouraged to boil water that will be consumed or used for food preparation. Water should be boiled for two minutes and allowed to cool before use. Water is safe to use for showering, laundry, general washing and outdoor use without boiling.
