INCIDENT: Attempted Murder
LOCATION: 3000 block of Inez Avenue, Yucca Valley, Califormia
SUSPECT(S): Kevin Armstrong, 59-year-old male resident of Yucca Valley
VICTIM(S): A 55-year-old male resident of Yucca Valley
SUMMARY: On Friday, December 8, 2023, at 7:36 p.m., deputies from the Morongo Basin Sheriff's Station responded to the 3000 block Inez Avenue in Yucca Valley following the reports of shots fired.
As deputies responded to the scene, the victim told Sheriff's Dispatch Kevin Armstrong shot at him and was inside the primary residence on the property. Due to the nature of the call, deputies with the Specialized Enforcement Division (SED) were requested. SED personnel responded to the scene and rescued the victim, who was still on the property. Armstrong was still armed and barricaded himself inside the primary residence.
Deputies obtained an arrest warrant for Armstrong and a search warrant for the residence. During the service of the arrest and search warrants, Armstrong shot at SED personnel several times during an hours-long stand-off. Crisis negotiotars spoke with Armstrong and attempted to reach a peaceful resolution. Armstrong eventually exited the residence and was arrested.
Armstrong was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail for Penal Code Section 664/187 - Attempted Murder, and is being held on a $1,000,000.00 bail.
