Winter Weather Advisory until 06:00AM Monday

* WHAT...Blowing snow expected. Total snow accumulations of up to two inches. North winds gusting as high as 40 mph for north and west Anchorage. Easterly winds gusting as high as 65 mph across the Anchorage Hillside Sunday night through Monday morning. Visibility reduced to as low as one half mile.

* WHERE...Anchorage.

* WHEN...From noon Sunday to 6 AM AKST Monday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on hazardous travel. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute. Strong winds could cause tree damage and power outages. Strong winds could cause significant drifting of snow on area roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Gusty north winds will develop across north and west Anchorage by midday Sunday and intensify into the evening and overnight hours before diminishing Monday morning. The strong winds will lift easily transportable snow already on the ground leading to significant drifting and blowing snow. Strong easterly winds along the Anchorage Hillside will also develop late Sunday evening through Monday morning. Drifting and blowing snow is likely for the Anchorage Hillside; however, temperatures warming into the lower 30s may limit the severity of drifting and blowing snow. There is also uncertainty as to how much, if any, snow develops with this storm system. There is still uncertainty as to how much, if any, snow develops with this storm system, with up to 2 inches of snow possible. However, the biggest impact from this storm will be the strong winds and reduced visibility from blowing snow.
