REMINDER: Join the annual Menorah lighting today at 4 pm; HPD toy drive event postponed
Menorah Lighting & Gelt Drop is today
The City of Hoboken invites residents to celebrate Chanukah at the annual menorah lighting today, Dec. 10, at 4 p.m.
The free, family-friendly celebration, at Hoboken City Hall, 94 Washington St., is co-hosted by the Chabad of Hoboken and Jersey City, and will feature a gelt drop by the Hoboken Fire Department, speakers, prayers, music, and holiday treats. Come early to enjoy entertainment including a fire juggler, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Please be advised of street closures in the area between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. including:
- Washington Street between Observer Highway and First Street.
- Newark Street between Hudson and Bloomfield Streets.
- First Street between Bloomfield and Washington Streets.
NJ Transit buses will be re-routed onto Bloomfield and Hudson Streets during this time. Please abide by posted "no parking" signs and prepare for traffic delays in the immediate area. Hoboken Police will be on hand to assist with detours and other traffic impacts.
Hoboken Police toy drive event postponed
The Hoboken Police Department's toy drive event scheduled for Monday, Dec. 11, at 626 Washington St. is postponed. The drive will now occur on Wednesday, Dec. 13, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.at 626 Washington St.
HPD is collecting donations for the third annual Sgt. Peter Zanin "Peachy" Toy Drive, which will be donated to local families in need. Donors can drop off new, unwrapped toys at the following locations thru Dec. 13:
- Hoboken City Hall, 94 Washington St. between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays
- Hoboken Police Department, 106 Hudson St. 24/7
- Hoboken Fire Department, 1313 Washington St. between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Hoboken Police will host pop-up drop-off events at:
- 626 Washington St. on Dec. 13, from 12 p.m. through 8 p.m.
