The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
MONDAY, DECEMBER 4, 2023:
12:56 AM: Officers contacted a 27-year-old female out of San Lorenzo sleeping near trash cans. Officer Herrera determined that she was too intoxicated to take care of herself and placed her under arrest. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
9:05 AM: Officer C. Torres investigated a burglary in progress at a warehouse in the 38000 block of Cedar Boulevard. Officers conducted a high risk stop of the suspect vehicle and recovered stolen property from the warehouse. A 52-year-old male out of Fremont was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
11:18 PM: Officer Norvell arrested a 35-year-old male out of Newark for a warrant and brandishing a knife at a security guard. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 5, 2023:
11:59 PM: Officer Smith located a 26-year-old female out of Sunnyvale slumped over the steering wheel of her vehicle while stopped in the roadway of Cedar Boulevard. She was determined to be driving under the influence and assaulted the officers as they attempted to take her into custody. She was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 6, 2023:
3:15 AM: Officer S. Torres investigated a commercial burglary in the 610 block of Jarvis Avenue.
6:18 AM: Officer Williams responded to a report of a male subject tampering with locked bicycles at an apartment complex. During his investigation, he located and arrested a 29-year-old male out of Newark for possession of drug paraphernalia. No bicycles were stolen, and the suspect was issued a citation.
11:58 AM: Officer C. Torres investigated a report of a theft by deception. At the time of the report, the loss was $100,000.00.
11:49 AM: Officer Orozco conducted an enforcement stop of a vehicle and the driver disclosed to Officer Lara that he was robbed and assaulted a week prior. Officer Lara will be following up to continue his investigation.
2:45 PM: Officer Orozco investigated a theft of a vehicle in the 5800 block of Jarvis Avenue. The victim’s wallet and keys were left inside the vehicle.
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2023:
11:35 AM: Officer Williams located a stolen vehicle driving on Cherry Street and attempted an enforcement stop. The vehicle fled from officers out of the City and a pursuit was not initiated.
7:07 PM: Officer Kapu located a stolen vehicle on Cedar Court. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of a 26-year-old male out of San Jose and a 50-year-old female out of San Jose for possession of the stolen vehicle. Both were transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2023:
7:10 PM: Officer Riddles arrested a 45-year-old male out of Newark for a felony warrant and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
11:04 PM: Officer responded to a report of a subject causing a disturbance in the 36100 block of Cherry Street. Officers located a 64-year-old male out of Newark in the roadway and arrested him for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2023:
1:54 PM: Officers located an unoccupied stolen vehicle on Mowry Avenue.
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2023
12:03 AM: Officer Riddles arrested a 51-year-old male out of Newark for violating a served restraining order. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
10:06 AM: Officer Jackman investigated a theft of a vehicle from the 36900 block of Cherry Street.
12:39 PM: Officer C. Torres investigated a theft of a vehicle from the 8100 block of Mayhews Landing Road.
1:47 PM: Officer McCuin investigated a theft of a vehicle from the 5200 block of Sussex Place.
1:53 PM: Officer C. Torres investigated a domestic disturbance on Beutke Drive and ultimately arrested a 44-year-old male out of Newark and booked him into Santa Rita Jail.
1:45 PM: Officer Medina documented the recovery of an unoccupied stolen vehicle on Indian Wells Drive.
8:24 PM: Officer Swadener investigated a report of a restraining order violation on Inverness Drive. He located and arrested a 53-year-old female out of Newark and booked her into Santa Rita Jail.
