The suspect taken into custody by Green Bay Police in a homicide investigation in the 1700 block of Western Avenue on Saturday, December 9, 2023, is Owen Backus, 45, Green Bay.
The Brown County District Attorney’s Office filed a written probable cause statement on Monday, December 11, 2023, and bail was set at $1 million for Backus who remains in Brown County Jail.
The victim, a 30-year-old Green Bay man, will not be identified right now per the request of family.
Details of the autopsy performed by Brown County Office of the Medical Examiner on December 11, 2023, will not be released at this time pending the ongoing investigation.
