Joshua Tree Man Leads Deputies in Pursuit Through the Morongo Basin Before Being Arrested

SUSPECT(S): Casey Moses, 38-year-old male resident of Joshua Tree

SUMMARY: On Friday, December 8, 2023, at about 11:18 a.m., deputies assigned to the Morongo Basin Station attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by a known probationer driving without a license near Stagemans Road and Bowman Trail in Landers.
The driver, Casey Moses, failed to yield and a pursuit was initiated. Moses fled at a high rate of speed through residential streets with willful and wanton disregard for public safety. After covering an approximate distance of five miles, the vehicle became disabled when it ran out of gas. Moses ran from the vehicle and led deputies on an approximate two-hundred yard foot chase.
At the conclusion of the foot chase, Moses was taken into custody. Moses had two outstanding felony warrants for his arrest and was taken into custody. Moses was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail for his felony warrants and violation of California Vehicle Code 2800.2(a) - Felony Evading a Peace Officer. Moses is currently being held at the West Valley Detention Center in lieu of a $130,00.01 bail.
