Advisory

NWS flood watch for Hoboken; Wind advisory overnight; Avoid flood-prone areas.

The City of Hoboken and the Hoboken Office of Emergency Management are closely monitoring forecasts, as a coastal storm is approaching our area.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a coastal flood watch for Hudson County, including Hoboken, from Sunday evening through Monday afternoon. Heavy rain is forecasted, and flooding is possible in low-lying areas, particularly during high tide periods, including approximately 12:22 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 18. A wind advisory is in effect for Hudson County, including Hoboken, from 12 a.m. through 12 p.m. on Monday, Dec.18. Winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph, are possible.
Avoid flood-prone areas
The Office of Emergency Management reminds residents to avoid flood-prone areas. Intense rainfall of greater than 0.8 inch per hour could result in flooding in low-lying areas. Barricades have been deployed near flood-prone intersections. Do not walk or drive through barricades or flooded areas.    Please report flooded intersections and clogged drain inlets by calling the NHSA Hotline at (866) 689-3970.
Secure loose objects
Hoboken could experience wind gusts of up to 50 mph.    Residents should secure all loose objects outside or bring them inside, especially from balconies. Outdoor tents should be taken down depending on the wind load.    Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines, resulting in power outages.    Please report power outages and downed wires to PSEG at https://nj.myaccount.pseg.com/myservicepublic/outagepublic.
Remain alert, stay informed, and exercise caution
