Coastal storm to bring heavy rain and gusty winds later today into Monday morning
A coastal storm will affect the area later this afternoon and continuing through Monday morning.
Rain showers will then overspread the area later this afternoon, with steadier and heavier rain taking over as we get into the evening hours. The worst of the rain sets up overnight and continues through the first half of the morning before tapering off before noon tomorrow. Rainfall totals around 2.5–4.0" will lead to numerous flooding issues, with some significant issues possible (including road closures) from streams/creeks and rivers through the commute on Monday.
Additionally, winds will become rather gusty at times overnight and into tomorrow, with downed trees and powerlines possible, especially with saturated grounds.
Unsecured holiday decorations pose a risk during storms, as strong winds can turn outdoor holiday decorations into projectiles, endangering people, property and even your power.
Loose decorations entangled with power lines may lead to outages, emphasizing the importance of securing festive displays to ensure both safety and uninterrupted power supply during inclement weather.
To report an outage by phone, call PSE&G at 1-800-436-PSEG (7734) or use their web chat feature at pseg.com/myaccount.
