ROADWAY FLOODING - DECEMBER 18TH, 2023
As previously reported, a Flood Watch is in effect until 5:00pm Today, December 18th. We have received multiple reports of roadways, mostly county roadways, being flooded. Police are aware of these flash flooding conditions and we ask that you utilize 9-1-1 for emergencies only. Motorists should expect scattered roadways closures in town due to roadway flooding. Please use extra caution during commuting hours both to work and school.
THE CRANFORD MUNICIPAL BUILDING, LOCATED ON THE RAHWAY RIVER, IS HAVING A DELAYED OPENING UNTIL 11:00AM.
What residents should do:
Residents in flood-prone areas should continue to monitor weather conditions in the event that additional flooding occurs.
Residents in flood-prone areas should take common sense precautions and monitor conditions if flooding materializes. Have multiple ways to receive weather warnings, as the National Weather Service will issue Flood Warnings if conditions materialize. NWS warnings impacting Cranford will be automatically re-broadcast on Nixle. Residents can get the most up-to-date weather information by visiting www.weather.gov.
Residents throughout the Township are asked to assist by clearing storm drains of leaves or other debris near their homes.
The Township has taken precautions, including opening river gates and deploying pumps, and has implemented storm response procedures within the public safety and public works departments. With some common sense preparedness measures, we can protect ourselves and our families.
