Advisory

Flooding in low-lying areas; Stay off Roads; Do not move or go around barricades

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Hudson County, including Hoboken, through 10:45 a.m. this morning. A coastal flood warning will be in effect from 10 a.m. through 4 p.m. today, and a wind advisory remains in effect through 12 p.m. today.  The next high tide for our area is at approximately 12:37 p.m.

Residents are encouraged to stay off the roads until flooding recedes. If driving is necessary, leave extra time, use extreme caution and consider exiting town via northern routes, as southern sections of Hoboken are experiencing flooding and traffic is heavy. Never drive through floodwater or around barricades. Do not move barricades that have been deployed.

As a reminder, street cleaning has been suspended for today.

Crews with the Department of Environmental Services are currently  removing windblown debris and recovery efforts will continue as conditions allow. This includes power washing impacted roads when floodwaters recede.
Avoid flood-prone areas
The Office of Emergency Management reminds residents to avoid flood-prone areas. Intense rainfall of greater than 0.8 inch per hour could result in flooding in low-lying areas. Barricades have been deployed near flood-prone intersections. Do not walk or drive through barricades or flooded areas.    Please report flooded intersections and clogged drain inlets by calling the NHSA Hotline at (866) 689-3970.
Secure loose objects
Hoboken could continue experience heavy winds.   Residents should secure all loose objects outside or bring them inside, especially from balconies. Outdoor tents should be taken down depending on the wind load.    Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines, resulting in power outages.    Please report power outages and downed wires to PSEG at https://nj.myaccount.pseg.com/myservicepublic/outagepublic.
Remain alert, stay informed, and exercise caution
