12/18/23 - 9am message from the Office of Emergency Managment -
The Fairfield Office of Emergency Management is monitoring the Passaic River levels after last evenings rain storm.
At this time, the National Weather Service is predicting rain to continue into the late morning. The river projections have increased since yesterday. Currently, the river is expected to reach 20'8" by 7am, Tuesday morning.
We are expecting moderate street flooding at these levels. Based on our most recent data, the following streets can expect some flooding:
- Camp Lane
- Clinton Road
- Ray Place
- Industrial Road
- Dwight Place
- Matt Drive
- Montesano Road
- Poplar Place
- Stewart Place
- Commerce Road
- Horseneck Road
- Brook Street
- Bloomfield Avenue
- Two Bridges Road
- Gloria Lane
It should be noted that Passaic Avenue is now open in both directions.
It is always possible that other roadways not listed may see some flooding as well. We ask that you please use caution when driving, and do not drive through barricaded or flooded roadways.
We are monitoring the forecast should any of these predictions change. Updates will be provided as necessary.
