UPDATE: ROADS REOPENED & WEATHER STATEMENT

Route 128 (Main Street), and Route 120 are reopened. School Street between Wampus Avenue and Route 128 (Main Street) remains closed due to flooding.

UPDATED WEATHER STATEMENT:
More details on the Coastal Storm that continues to wrap up this morning... 2-3" of rain has fallen since last evening, which has resulted in roadway/poor drainage flooding as well as some stream & creek issues. Additionally, strong winds around 40–50 mph have brought down quite a few tree limbs, with numerous reports of road closures from downed trees this morning. Additional heavy rainfall is expected this morning before activity gradually tapers off to showers by around midday. This will allow smaller streams and creeks to recede, with larger streams and rivers remaining elevated into tomorrow. While winds will be on the downtrend throughout the day, additional downed trees, branches, & powerlines are possible given the extremely saturated ground. Finally, quiet and drier weather takes over for the rest of the week.

There is currently low hanging and down tree limbs on roadways throughout Town, please use caution. Con Edison has been notified of numerous instances of trees resting on wires. Treat all downed wires as if they are live. Be mindful that downed wires can be hidden from view by tree limbs, leaves, or snow. Motorists are also reminded to NOT drive through standing water as it can be deeper than it appears.

In the event of life-threatening emergencies, dial 911. Call North Castle Police at 914-273-9500 for any non-life threatening matters, traffic issues, downed trees, etc.

Con Ed customers can report downed power lines, outages, and check service restoration status at www.conEd.com or by calling 1-800-75-CONED (1-800-752-6633).

If you plan to use a generator, make sure that it is being used safely. Do not run a portable generator inside of your home or business; keep it outside and away from the house so that the exhaust does not cause anyone to become sick with carbon monoxide poisoning. Keep combustible materials away from the generator and, when refueling, turn it off and let it cool down. Additional generator safety tips are available HERE.

Please encourage your neighbors to sign up for Nixle alerts. Stay safe!
