On November 21, 2020, the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division began a Homicide Investigation after receiving information that Daryl Jamichael Price was shot by a Delarrio Laquone Goode.
The Investigation lasted for several weeks. Investigators were able to track Goode to Cobb County Georgia and orchestrate his arrest with the Cobb County Police Department. Goode was attempting to create a new identity for himself in Georgia. A few days after Goode’s arrest, Investigators were able to locate Price’s body in a secluded area in the Northwest section of Rutherford County.
After a complex Investigation, Investigators learned that Goode had planned to rob Price during a drug deal. During the robbery Goode shot Price, who died as a result of the gunshot wound. Price’s body was carried in a car for a day before Goode dumped his body in a secluded area. Goode then fled to Georgia where he was apprehended.
On December 5, 2023, after a week and a half trial, a jury convicted Delarrio Lequone Goode of 1st Degree Murder. Goode was sentenced to life in prison, without the possibility of Parole.
The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations for their assistance in the Investigation, and especially the Rutherford County District’s Attorney’s Office for their hard work, meticulous case preparation, that led to a conviction in this case and getting justice for Daryl Jamichael Price and his family.
