Traffic Enforcement Details From December 23^rd through January 5^th:
 
In an effort to address recurring traffic safety concerns within the Township, the South Brunswick Police Department will be conducting the following directed traffic enforcement details over the next two weeks:
 
West Side:
December 23^rd to December 29^th: Finnegans Lane: Speeding, Distracted Driving, and Traffic Signal Violations
 
December 30^th to January 5^th: Beekman Road: Speeding, Failure to Stop for Pedestrians at Crosswalks, and Weight Limit Ordinance Violations
 
East Side:
December 23^rd to December 29^th: Kingston Lane: Speeding, Failure to Stop for Pedestrians at Crosswalks, and Weight Limit Ordinance Violations
 
December 30^th to January 5^th: Ridge Road: Speeding, Distracted Driving, and Weight Limit Ordinance Violations
 
These traffic enforcement details will be conducted in addition to our Department's routine traffic enforcement efforts. 
 

Safe Driving During the Holidays:

During the Christmas and New Year holiday periods, we often see a nationwide rise in drunk-driving deaths. As a result, you'll see more law enforcement on the roads.

If you’re celebrating and drinking this holiday season, always remember to plan ahead with a sober driver to take you home. If you’re the designated driver, it’s important to take the role seriously and don’t consume alcohol or use other drugs. Here are some more safety tips:

• Be responsible – make good decisions every time.
• Never drink and drive.
• Don’t let someone get behind the wheel if that person has been drinking.
• If you’re hosting a gathering, make sure everyone has a sober ride home.
• Watch out for other cars on the road and always drive defensively.
• Call 911 if you see a drunk driver.
• Always wear your seat belt. It’s your best defense against impaired drivers.

 
 
Road Closure – Henderson Road Between Route 1 and Route 27:

The Middlesex County Culvert Replacement Project has made it necessary to close Henderson Road, between Route 1 and Route 27, while a bridge is removed and replaced. The closure is a full closure - no vehicles will be able to pass through the work area. The closure will be 24 hours per day/7 days per week and is expected to last for 6 to 9 months. The posted detour will be Route 1 to Finnegans Lane to Route 27, and the reverse. Vehicles looking to reach Brunswick Acres or Saint Augustine must access Henderson Road from the Route 1 end of the closure.
