Unknown Suspect(s) Burglarize Residence
On December 18th, 2023, at approximately 6:35 a.m., officers responded to the 800 block of Macmahan Way for a residential burglary report. After receiving the report, officers quickly arrived on scene and discovered the following.
Shortly before calling the police, the homeowner arrived home and discovered his residence had been burglarized. It was reported an unknown subject(s) had forced entry into a rear door allowing the subject(s) to gain entry into the residence. The unknown subject(s) ransacked the residence before taking money and property. When the homeowner had returned home, the subject(s) had already left the residence. The homeowner immediately called the police when he discovered the house had been burglarized.
During the investigation, officers were able to obtain video surveillance from neighbors. Additionally, police personnel were able to lift fingerprints from inside the residence. While this is still an active investigation, we are hopeful such evidence will lead us to a potential suspect(s). We encourage anyone who has information regarding the incident to call the Petaluma Police Department.
As always, we want to remind people to remain vigilant. If they see something in their neighborhoods that appears suspicious, we encourage them to call the police.
