Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of December 11-17, 2023

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Robberies

There were two robberies during the past week.

On Thursday, 12-14-23, at approximately 9:25 p.m., officers were dispatched to Target at Serramonte Shopping Center on a report of a theft. An asset protection agent said a male and female suspect entered the store. The suspects placed an air mattress and massage gun, worth approximately $490, into a shopping cart. The suspects went to guest services and attempted to return the unpaid items. There was an extended wait, so the male suspect decided to push the cart to the southern exit door. Another asset protection agent was at the door and conducted a routine receipt check to ensure the items were purchased. Meanwhile, the female suspect walked over, took possession of the shopping cart, and pushed it out of the store. Next, the male suspect proceeded to walk out of the store, and the asset protection agent followed. The male suspect turned around and swung at the asset protection agent’s face. The asset protection agent was struck, and as a result, the asset protection agent’s glasses were almost knocked off. Both suspects fled in a black Chrysler. The asset protection agent described the first suspect as a Black male, approximately 30 years old, wearing a black beanie, black hooded sweatshirt, and gray pants. The second suspect was described as a Black female with dreadlocks, approximately 30 years old, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and black pants. This investigation is continuing.

On Saturday, 12-16-23, at approximately 7:34 a.m., an officer was dispatched to Walgreens at Westlake Shopping Center on a report of a robbery. An employee said a suspect entered the store and asked him where the noodles were located. The suspect went to the area, placed two packs of noodles in his backpack, and walked toward the front of the store and past the registers without paying for the items. The employee asked the suspect to return the merchandise and leave the store. When the employee again requested the suspect to return the items, the employee said the suspect walked toward him and said, “I’ll beat your a**.” The employee feared the suspect would harm him and backed away. The suspect exited the store and fled north through the parking lot. At approximately 7:54 a.m., another officer located the suspect on the 100 block of Lake Merced Boulevard. The suspect had noodles and a jar of olives worth approximately $6 in his backpack. The suspect, a 44-year-old transient, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery, providing a false identity, and outstanding warrants.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
