Single Vehicle Injury Crash

Sheriff Richard J. Behnke, reports that on December 22, 2023 at approximately 1246 hours his office was called to investigate a personal injury crash on Birch Rd., north of Chapel Hill St., Porter Township, Cass County, Michigan. Investigation shows that 22-year-old, Sturgis, MI resident, Tyler Meringa was traveling north on Birch Rd., when he lost control of his vehicle going around a curve. Meringa’s vehicle went off the road to the right and rolled. Meringa was transported to Three Rivers hospital for minor injuries sustained in the crash.  

Meringa was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Alcohol and drugs are not considered a factor in this crash. Speed is considered a factor in the crash. Assisting in this crash was SEPSA Ambulance and SEPSA Fire.
