Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a female in the city of Quartz Hill.
Deputies from Lancaster Sheriff’s Station responded to the 41400 block of 38th Street West in the city of Quartz Hill regarding a structure fire call for service.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at approximately 8:32 AM.
The garage and its contents were on fire upon arrival of deputy and fire personnel.
A burned female body was discovered in the trunk of a vehicle, in the garage, by firefighters.
The owner of the residence and the person of interest in this case, Mr. Matthew Switalski, was located yesterday in Kern County.
Through investigation, Homicide investigators determined Mr. Switalski to be a suspect in this case and he was subsequently arrested for murder and booked at Lancaster Sheriff’s Station.
The identity of the found female remains and the cause of death will be determined by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
The investigation is ongoing, and currently, there is no additional information available.
