Flood Advisory until 08:30PM Tuesday
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...McDowell County in western North Carolina.
* WHEN...Until 830 PM EST.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding of low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 521 PM EST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated continued light rain showers falling on areas that received from 3 to 6 inches of rainfall over the past 24 hours. An additional half inch of rain will be possible through the evening hours. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Marion, Old Fort, Lake James State Park, Linville Falls, Pleasant Gardens, Sugar Hill, Glenwood, Woodlawn, Nebo, Fero, Busick, Little Switzerland, North Cove, Thermal City, Dysartsville and Ashford. - High water conditions will continue around the county but minor flooding is most likely to occur along the Catawba River around Pleasant Gardens and near Highway 221 northwest of Marion. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

When it is safe to do so, please report flooding or landslides threatening roads or property to the National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg by calling toll free, 1, 800, 2 6 7, 8 1 0 1, by posting on our Facebook page, or via Twitter using hashtag NWSGSP. Your message should describe the specific location where impacts occurred and the depth of flooding observed. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
