Full Notification

At 2200 hours, Palmdale Deputies responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian call. Upon investigation, it was determined P/1 was walking southbound #1 lane of travel.  P/2 was traveling eastbound in the #1 lane of travel at approximately 40mph when he saw P/1.  P/2 was unable to avoid colliding into P/1.  P/1 was thrown and landed in the northbound #1 lane of travel. P/2 immediately pulled over and attempted to render assistance. Los Angeles County Fire Department, Engine 37, under Captain Koch, responded to the scene. P/1 was pronounced P/1 deceased on scene. Palmdale Station traffic investigators and Traffic Service Detail were notified. The investigation is being handled by Palmdale Station Traffic Detectives.
 
Neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor for the vehicle operator in this collision. Alcohol/drug use by the pedestrian prior to this collision is currently under investigation.
