INCIDENT: P.C. 245(A)(1)- Assault with a Deadly Weapon and P.C. 243(B) - Battery on a Peace Officer
LOCATION: 1100 block of 3rd Street, Needles, CA
SUSPECT(S): Jared Parent, 24-years-old, Resident of Needles, CA
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at approximately 1:40 p.m., deputies from the Colorado River Sheriff's Station/Needles Police Department responded to the 1100 block of 3rd Street, reference an assault.
During the investigation, it was determined the suspect, Jared Parent, lunged at the victim with a knife during an altercation on the property. The victim jumped backward and avoided being struck by the knife. Parent then fled the scene in his vehicle.
Parent was contacted a short time later during a traffic enforcement stop on the I 40 West, and was arrested. Parent was positively identified by the victim and was transported to the Colorado River Station jail for booking. During transport, Parent spat on deputies and was charged with an additional charge of P.C. 243(B) - Battery on a Peace Officer. Parent remains in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department on $40,000.00 bail, awaiting a court hearing.
