Newark Police Department Crime Blotter Dec 18-24, 2023
The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
MONDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2023:
1:20 AM: Officer Riddles initiated a vehicle enforcement stop of a vehicle in the area of Newark Blvd and SR-84. The driver, a 20-year-old female out of San Jose, was determined to be driving under the influence and was placed under arrest. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2023:
12:44 PM: Officer C. Torres located a stolen vehicle in the area of Cedar Boulevard and Newark Boulevard. Officers contacted the driver, a 50-year-old male out of Oakland, as he was walking away from the vehicle. A high-risk stop was conducted, and he was taken into custody for two felony warrants and possession of the stolen vehicle.
Officers contacted his associate, a 36-year-old male out of Hayward, who was also found to have a warrant for his arrest and was active to searchable probation for auto theft. During a probation search, a 50-year-old female out of Hayward, was contacted and found to be in possession of a controlled substance for sales, transporting a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. All three were arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 20, 2023:
3:37 AM: Officer Townsend investigated a report of a stolen vehicle in the area of Wells Avenue.
5:56 AM: Officer C. Torres investigated an auto burglary that was believed to have occurred overnight in the 34900 block of Newark Boulevard. Entry was made via window smash and the loss was tools.
7:30 AM: Officer McCuin was dispatched to a report of suspicious persons looking into a building in the 37300 block of Cedar Boulevard. He contacted a 27-year-old male out of Hayward and arrested him for a felony warrant. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
7:09 AM: Officer Williams investigated a report of a stolen vehicle from the area of 39100 Cedar Boulevard.
9:59 AM: Officer C. Torres investigated a report of a stolen vehicle from the 37000 block of Sycamore Street.
7:46 AM: Officer C. Torres investigated an auto burglary that occurred in the area of 8200 Gateway Boulevard. Entry was made via window smash, the loss is unknown.
12:28 PM: Officer McCuin investigated a commercial burglary from the 5640 block of Thornton Avenue. Three suspects were captured on CCTV footage entering a business and using bolt cutters to gain access to a locked cabinet. Loss was tools.
1:05 PM: Vehicle abatement officer Mora located an unoccupied stolen vehicle in the area of Sycamore Street.
1:58 PM: While investigating a disturbance, Officer Williams determined one of the parties, a 31-year-old female out of Hayward, had an outstanding warrant for her arrest. She was issued a citation and released on scene.
8:42 PM: Officer S. Torres located a stolen vehicle in the area of Mowry Avenue and arrested a 15-year-old juvenile for possession of the stolen vehicle.
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 21, 2023:
1:42 PM: A citizen received a motion notification from his Ring camera. Upon reviewing the video, he observed someone take a package off his porch. He immediately responded home, and saw the suspect walking in the area that matched the description of the subject on video. He followed the subject and called the police. Officer Williams located the subject and detained him. Officer Lara conducted the investigation, accepted a private person arrest for petty theft. The suspect, a 31-year-old male out of Fremont, was arrested for petty theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
8:54 PM: Officer Kapu located a stolen vehicle on Cedar Blvd and arrested a 45-year-old female out of Newark for possession of the stolen vehicle. She was booked into Sana Rita Jail.
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 22, 2023:
7:10 AM: Officers investigated a report of a stolen vehicle from the 8100 block of Mayhews Landing Road.
7:08 AM: Officer Williams investigated the report of a stolen vehicle from the 36000 block of Bettencourt Street.
9:14 AM: Officers investigated a window smash auto burlglary that occurred in the 6000 block of Fair Avenue.
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 23, 2023:
1:00PM: Officer Quinonez investigated a report of a stolen vehicle from Cedar Boulevard.
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 24, 2023:
6:45 AM: Officer McCuin investigated an auto burglary via window smash from a parking lot off Balentine Drive. The theft occurred sometime overnight and the loss was luggage. There was no suspect information provided.
8:11 AM & 8:16 AM: Officer Jackman investigated two auto burglares via window smash in the parking lot of 39900 Balentine Drive. The incidents occurred sometime overnight, and the loss are unknown at this time. There was no suspect(s) information provided.
1:15 PM: Officer Taylor investigated the theft of a vehicle from the 36000 block of Darvon Street. The theft occurred sometime overnight. There was no suspect information provided.
2:54 PM: Officer Frentescu investigated an auto burglary via cut lock to a U-Haul truck. The loss was unknown.
9:48 PM: While investigating a theft that just occurred, Officer Soto arrested a 22-year-old male out of San Francisco for an outstanding warrant. He was cited and released.
