Two Arrested and 21 Cited at Berkeley DUI Checkpoint 
On December 21st, 2023, two drivers were arrested for DUI at a DUI/Driver License Checkpoint in Berkeley.
The DUI checkpoint was held at University Avenue and Grant Street from 8:00 PM to 12:20 AM.
21 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license, 788 vehicles were contacted.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
The next DUI checkpoint will be held on January 19, 2024.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
