Needles Resident Taken into Custody When She was DUI with Her Child in the Car

INCIDENT: P.C. 273A(b)-Willful Cruelty to a Child, C.V.C. 23152(A) - Driving Under the Influence, P.C. 166(A)(4) - Violation of a Court Order and P.C. 245(A)(4) - Assault with a Deadly Weapon
LOCATION: 1900 Block of Erin Drive, Needles, CA
SUSPECT(S): Chimalma Reyes, 48-years-old, Resident of Needles, CA
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Thursday, December 21, 2023, at approximately 11:18 p.m., deputies responded to a call for service near the 1900 block of Erin Drive. During investigation, it was discovered that Chimalma Reyes was in violation of a court order. Reyes was also found to be driving under the influence of alcohol and had her juvenile child with her in the vehicle.
During futher investigation, it was determined that Reyes was also wanted for assault with a deadly weapon from a previous incident. The juvenile was released to a family member and Reyes was taken into custody.
Reyes was transported to the Colorado River Station jail for booking and remains in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department with a combined bail amount of $120,000.00, awaiting a court hearing.
