Last week, the Fairfield Police Department became aware of a planned protest at Travis Air Force Base. The stated goal of the protest was to shut down all gates into and out of the base.
 
This morning, December 28, approximately 150 protestors arrived and began dispersing to the base’s three entrances. Members of the Police Department and representatives from Travis Air Force Base met with protest organizers to facilitate the exercise of their constitutional rights, while also ensuring the men and women serving our nation could get onto the base.
 
Unfortunately, almost immediately after that meeting, some of the protestors moved into the street and blocked both the North and South gates.
 
The protestors were asked to leave the roadway multiple times and told they could continue their protest on the roadway shoulder, however, they refused. Each person was then asked individually to leave the roadway and still they refused. As a result, 10 protestors were arrested at the North Gate by Fairfield Police officers and four (4) protestors were arrested by members of the Solano County Sheriff’s Office at the South Gate. All of those arrested were later booked at Solano County Jail for refusing to disperse.
 
There was no force used and no reported injuries as a result of this incident. As of 9:30 am the roadways are clear and access to the base returned to normal.
