Special Weather Statement until 06:00AM Friday
A strong front will move over the Southern Alaska Peninsula tonight bringing a mix of wet snow, strong winds and rain. The increase in winds is ongoing, with gusts by 9pm ranging from 50 to 60 mph. Precipitation will start out as snow, but temperatures at sea level will range from 34 to 37 degrees, creating mostly a wet snow while a transition to rain is likely later tonight into Friday morning. Snow accumulations at sea level will range from 2 to 4 inches, with up to 6 inches expected for those above sea level. Blowing snow, heavy snow and winds up to 75 mph are likely at higher elevations above town. Travel may be difficult at times tonight due to strong winds and slushy snow.
