On December 28, 2023, at approximately 1:46 PM, the Simi Valley Police Department responded to the area of Erringer Rd. and Fitzergald Rd. reference a vehicle vs. bicyclist traffic collision. The bicyclist unfortunately sustained injuries that proved to be fatal and was discovered deceased on the scene.
According to the initial information and preliminary investigation it appears the bicyclists was traveling westbound Fitzgerald Rd. in the southern crosswalk of Fitzgerald, when the rider was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound Erringer Rd.
There were no indications of impairment by either parties and the driver did not sustain any injuries. The roadway was closed for several hours to conduct the investigation. The bicyclists was later identified as a 45 year old female resident of Simi Valley. Her name is being withheld until the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office can notify the next of kin.
