The Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is releasing body-worn camera footage related to the critical incident that occurred on December 1, 2023. To maintain transparency and accountability, per the HCSO policy, we share relevant audio/video information regarding a critical incident within 45 days of its occurrence.

An investigation into this incident is ongoing by the Sheriff's Office Homicide Division.

The information included in this video release is preliminary. The Harris County District Attorney's Office is conducting an independent investigation, which is standard when a use of force results in a person’s death.
 
The Sheriff's Office Internal Affairs Division is conducting an additional investigation.
The results of this administrative investigation will be presented to the Sheriff's Administrative Disciplinary Committee to determine whether the deputies complied with policies and procedures

In compliance with state law that prohibits the release of certain information and to maintain the investigation's integrity, videos and audio are redacted.

Anyone with information relevant to this critical incident is urged to contact the Harris County Sheriff's Office at 713-221-6000. All evidence gathered in the investigation will be given to the district attorney's office for presentation to an independent grand jury.
