Under close supervision as a trainee: Receives and responds to radio, telephone, or other electronic requests for emergency assistance including law enforcement, fire, medical, or other emergency services and/or dispatches appropriate units to response sites; does other related duties as required.
The Gloucester Township Police Department Telecommunicator, or Dispatcher, is often the unsung professional of the emergency response team. Unlike local police departments who use County Telecommunicators, the Gloucester Township Telecommunicators work jointly with our police officers right on site in our headquarters' updated Community Policing and Emergency Dispatch Center.
Salary: $18.86 per hour (starting rate). Must be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including weekends and holidays. Part time hours vary between day, night, weekends, and holidays.
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION WILL BE CONDUCTED- Applicant must pass a criminal background check and maintain such security clearance throughout employment.
