Incident Summary
 
On 01/04/2024 at approximately 5:22 PM, the Petaluma Police Department Dispatch Center received an emergency call from a community member who was in a verbal argument with another male subject in the 900 block of Hopper Street, Petaluma. The Petaluma Police Department received additional information from the reporting party that the other involved party had allegedly produced a knife and pointed it at him.
 
Petaluma officers arrived on scene within minutes and located both of the involved parties from the incident. During the investigation, it was discovered that Roberto Vasquez had allegedly started an argument with a local community member, pulled out a knife and attempted to stab the victim. The victim then used a bicycle to maintain distance from Vasquez until Petaluma PD arrived.
 
During a search of Vasquez, the knife allegedly used by him was located and identified by the victim. After interviewing the involved parties and any possible witnesses nearby, Vasquez was placed under arrest for 245 PC- Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
 
Vasquez was later transported to the Sonoma County Jail where he was booked for 245 PC- Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
