Special Weather Statement until 06:00PM
A powerful storm system moving into the Bering Sea late Friday will bring another round of very strong winds to the Alaska Peninsula this weekend. Southeasterly winds will quickly increase late Friday night becoming southerly through Sunday morning. Expect sustained winds of 35 to 50 mph with gusts up to 65 mph possible. The strongest winds are expected Saturday evening through early Sunday morning. On Sunday, the winds will shift southwesterly and remain gusty with wind gusts up to 50 mph persisting through early Monday morning before diminishing as the low moves north into the Bering Strait.
