Full Notification

Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke reports that his deputies were involved in a vehicle pursuit that entered Cass County from Elkhart County. 


On 1/5/2024 at approximately 03:21 A.m., Cass County Deputies received notification through their dispatch that Elkhart County Sheriff Department was in pursuit of a  vehicle believed to be driven by a suspect involved in a domestic type incident in their jurisdiction. 


The suspect driver, whose name will be withheld until his arraignment, would flee northbound from the general Edwardsburg area into Jefferson Township where the chase would ultimately come to an end after spike strips were deployed to deflate the suspect's tires.  Deputies took him into custody and lodged him at the Cass County Jail.


The Edwardsburg Police Department, Cassopolis Police Department, Michigan State Police, and Elkhart County Sheriff's Department assisted the Sheriff's Office with the incident, which remains under investigation
