TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Weekend Snow and Rain Predicted Residents Asked to Observe No Parking on Snow-Covered Roadways

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé reports that snow and rain predicted this weekend may produce flooding in certain areas.

Snow is predicted on Saturday, January 6, 2024, between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. followed by rain. On Sunday, January 7, 2024, snow is expected before 4 p.m. with anticipated accumulation of 1 to 2 inches.

Residents are asked to observe the city’s “No Parking on Snow Covered Roads” regulations due to the expected snowfall. Signs have been posted on streets throughout Newark to notify motorists of streets designated for no parking during snowstorms.  Motorists and residents are urged to look for the sign pictured below to identify the streets where the parking ban will be enforced.

These regulations are essential to the removal/plowing of snow and salting operations and to allow emergency vehicles to pass. Whenever possible, off-street parking is recommended during snowstorms. That may mean partnering with a neighbor to use their driveway.

All residents are reminded that tossing snow into the street is against the law. Motorists are advised to avoid driving on streets that may become flooded due to heavy rain. Kindly use alternate routes.
