Wilmington Police have arrested a man on gun charges.
On December 28, at approximately 4:23 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division were in the 1400 block of West 2nd Street, when they observed a subject acting in a suspicious manner. Police made contact with 18-year-old Brandon Wiggins who physically resisted arrest, then was taken into custody without further incident. Wiggins was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun.
Wiggins has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer (Second Degree)
- Resisting Arrest
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $78,000 cash-only bail.
