Winter Safety Remainder!
The Denville Twp. Police Department would like to take this time before the anticipated winter storm to remind all residents of the following laws and ordinances designed to help make Denville a safer community:
- Please remember to clear all sidewalks of snow and ice within 12 hours of the winter storm’s end.
- Do not throw any snow you clear from your driveways or sidewalks into the roadway. Placing snow in the roadway can result in a summons being issued.
- Do not park on any snow-covered street in the Township. If a vehicle is found to be parked on a snow-covered roadway, it could result in a summons and your vehicle being towed. This is to allow DPW to safely clear all of the townships roads.
- Remember to remove all snow and ice from your vehicles before driving them.
If you do need to travel outside, please allow for extra time for your commute and make sure to drive extra carefully. Although your vehicle may be able to safely travel through/over the snow-covered roadways, it may not be able to stop or turn as quickly as it would in dry conditions.
In addition, we would like to ask all resident with a fire hydrant on their property to clear the hydrant of any accumulating snow. This is so the hydrant is more visible and more accessible to the Fire Department in the event of an emergency.
The Denville Police Department would like to thank everyone in advance for their cooperation. Have a safe and healthy Winter Season.
