Police Seek Public’s Help Locating Individual Wanted for Questioning in Hit and Run Accident

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help with locating the individual pictured below, who was a passenger in a vehicle that struck a victim in a hit-and-run accident on January 1, 2024.

Police responded to the incident, which occurred at approximately 4:20 a.m. in the 100 block of Washington Street. A 2006 grey Mercedes Benz was traveling south on Broad Street and crossing Raymond Boulevard when it was hit from behind by a white, 2009 Mercedes Benz S550.

The occupants of the white Mercedes Benz – two women - drove off but the owner of the grey Mercedes Benz followed the vehicle until it stopped in the 100 block of Washington Street. At that point, the passenger of the grey Mercedes Benz took a picture of the two women with her cell phone. But as she exited the vehicle, thinking the women were going to exchange information, the driver of the white Mercedes Benz drove off and struck the victim before fleeing.

Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the individual pictured below to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
