The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch and wind advisory for Bergen County 6PM Tuesday, January 9, through 6PM Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
The heaviest rain will occur Tuesday evening through early Wednesday morning. Total rainfall is expected to be around 2-3 inches. Southeast winds 20-30 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
Excessive runoff, combined with snow melt, will result in moderate to major flash flooding of rivers, small creeks, streams, and other low lying and flood prone locations. This will be quicker than usual because the ground is already saturated and there will be significant snow melt with rising temperatures.
Prepare now. Check your generator if you have one and secure any loose items outdoors.
Please do your part. Keep any storm drains on or near your property clear of snow, ice, and other debris.
