The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... St. John The Baptist Parish in southeastern Louisiana... Southeastern St. James Parish in southeastern Louisiana... Northwestern St. Charles Parish in southeastern Louisiana... North central Lafourche Parish in southeastern Louisiana...

* Until 145 AM CST.

* At 1244 AM CST, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 12 miles south of Ponchatoula to near South Vacherie, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include... Thibodaux, Reserve, Hahnville, Laplace, Killona, Norco, Paradis, Montz, Edgard, South Vacherie, North Vacherie, Luling, Garyville, Boutte, Wallace, Chackbay, Bayou Gauche, Destrehan, Taft, and New Sarpy. This includes the following Interstates... Interstate 10 in Louisiana between mile markers 200 and 221. Interstate 55 in Louisiana between mile markers 1 and 14. Interstate 310 between mile markers 1 and 11.

* AFFECTED AREAS: LAFOURCHE, LA ... ST. CHARLES, LA ... ST. JAMES, LA ... ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST, LA

Instructions:

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 700 AM CST for southeastern Louisiana.
