Flash flooding is being reported across McDowell County with multiple roads impacted. Please do not drive through flooded roadways as this jeopardizes your life and the lives of emergency personnel. The 911 Center has processed 36 storm related calls as of 12:30 p.m.
The heavy rainfall is projected to end by mid-afternoon. A voluntary evacuation order remains in place for Riverbreeze Campground in Marion due to rising levels on the Catawba River. Emergency personnel continue to monitor the Catawba and other rivers and streams closely. Emergency managers are in close coordination with the National Weather Service in Greenville Spartanburg.
