Flood Advisory until 01:30AM Wednesday

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of western North Carolina, including the following counties, Burke and McDowell.

* WHEN...Until 130 AM EST.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 737 PM EST, Rain gauge reports indicated that 3 to 5 inches of rain fell over the region over the past 24 hours. Minor flooding is ongoing in the advisory area due to the continued runoff from this heavy rainfall. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Morganton, Marion, Valdese, Salem, Drexel, Glen Alpine, Lake James State Park, Lake Rhodhiss area, Nebo, Oak Hill and Pleasant Gardens. - Flooding is most likely along tributaries to the Catawba River, affecting from Pleasant Gardens to U.S. Highway 221 near Marion to North Green Street near Morganton. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

When it is safe to do so, please report flooding or landslides threatening roads or property to the National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg by calling toll free, 1, 800, 2 6 7, 8 1 0 1, by posting on our Facebook page, or via Twitter using hashtag NWSGSP. Your message should describe the specific location where impacts occurred and the depth of flooding observed. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
