Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help in identifying the below-pictured male suspect in connection with an aggravated assault that occurred on Monday, January 1, 2024.
At approximately 1:23 a.m., a male walking in the area of Ferry Street and Polk Street was approached from behind by three Hispanic male suspects. One suspect placed the victim in a chokehold while the other two searched the victim’s pockets, stealing his wallet and taking his cell phone from his hand. The victim whistled for help and the suspects stabbed him before fleeing into a black sedan parked on the Polk Street side of the 200 block of Ferry Street. The victim is reportedly in stable condition.
Detectives investigating this incident are seeking the public’s help in identifying the pictured suspect who was captured on surveillance camera stabbing the victim while he was on the ground.
