Police Seek Help in Locating Woman Wanted for Questioning in Assault Incident

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help in locating Iyanna Miller, also known as Iyanna Smith, 35, who is wanted for questioning in an assault that occurred on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
A female victim reported that she was approached by Miller (a.k.a. Smith) while attending an event in the 500 block of Springfield Avenue. As the victim was leaving the event, she was struck on the left side of her face by Miller, who continued to punch and slap her. The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment and is reportedly in stable condition.

Detectives investigating this incident describe Miller (a.k.a. Smith) as 5’11” tall with a dark complexion, black hair, and brown eyes.

Director Fragé urges anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Iyanna Miller (a.k.a. Iyanna Smith) to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).  All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
