Attempted Carjacking Suspects Disarmed by Victim and Apprehended by Deputies

LOCATION: 9000 block of Foothill Blvd, Rancho Cucamonga, 91739
SUSPECT(S): Lorenzo Ortiz, Age 41, Resident of El Monte
Raymond Joshua Bowman, Age 26, Resident of El Monte
VICTIM(S): Confidential Male Adult, Age 41
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at approximately 3:34 p.m., deputies responded to the 9000 block of Foothill Blvd in the city of Rancho Cucamonga referencing a shots fired call.
Through investigation, deputies learned the victim was approached by unknown suspects in the parking lot of his apartment complex. The suspects who were later identified as Lorenzo Ortiz and Raymond Joshua Bowman, both residents of El Monte, brandished a firearm and assaulted the victim during an attempted carjacking. It was determined through further investigation the victim was able to disarm the suspects but was ultimately shot in the hand during the process.
Ortiz and Bowman fled the scene in their vehicle and were apprehended a short time later by additional responding deputies. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to recover.
Ortiz and Bowman were arrested and booked in at the West Valley Detention Center for PC215-Carjacking and PC245(A)(2)- Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
