Narrative:
Moorpark. CA -The Moorpark  Police  Department conducted a Driver’s License / DUI Checkpoint on Friday, December 29, 2023. The checkpoint was held in the westbound lanes of Tierra Rejada Road near Mountain Trail Court, between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m.
 
During the checkpoint, deputies screened 377 drivers. One driver was cited for driving with a  suspended driver license and 3 other drivers were cited for driving while being unlicensed.
 
Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with DUI can expect the monetary impact of a DUI arrest to approximately $13,500. This includes fees, DUI classes, license suspension, possible jail time and a substantial increase in the cost of automobile insurance.
 
The Moorpark Police Department reminds drivers that “DUI Doesn’t Just Mean Booze.” Prescription drugs, particularly those with a driving or operating machinery warning label can impair and result in a DUI arrest / conviction. Marijuana can also cause impairment, especially when used in combination with alcohol or other intoxicants.
 
The Moorpark Police Department will be conducting another Driver’s License / DUI Checkpoint in the future. Moorpark Police Department is committed to taking impaired drivers off our streets and highways. Deputies made 113 DUI arrests in 2023. Driver’s License / DUI Checkpoints aid in lowering the risks for deaths and injuries associated with impaired driving.
